The thighs don’t lie

The thighs don’t lie

For cyclist and cross-country skier Freydís Heba Konradsdóttir, tired legs had become a frustrating part of training. She wanted to push herself further, but the fatigue in her legs could linger for days, sometimes even weeks. Then, in the summer of 2021, she started taking Unbroken every day. The difference, she says, surprised even her.

When the legs don't recover

Training across cycling and cross-country skiing puts plenty of demands on the legs.

For Freydís, the problem wasn't a lack of motivation. She was training hard and wanted to keep progressing, but her legs didn't always feel ready to follow.

“My legs just couldn’t shake the fatigue.”

She describes regularly experiencing tired, aching legs, sometimes for weeks at a time.

When training is consistent, that accumulated fatigue can make it harder to feel ready for the next session.

Making Unbroken part of every day

Freydís started taking Unbroken daily in the summer of 2021.

It wasn't simply something she used after an occasional hard session. Unbroken became part of her everyday routine while she continued to train and compete.

And she says the change was noticeable.

“After starting Unbroken, I noticed a huge difference.”

What makes her experience particularly interesting is that this wasn't during an easier period.

Freydís was training and competing full-time throughout the season.

A season that felt different

Despite that workload, Freydís remembers experiencing the deep leg fatigue that had previously troubled her on only two days during the season.

That difference took her by surprise.

“I wouldn’t have believed it if someone told me beforehand.”

For an athlete whose sports depend so heavily on the legs, how they feel from one training session to the next matters.

And Freydís has a rather simple way of summing up her experience:

“The thighs don’t lie!”

Ready to use the legs again

Cycling. Skiing. Training. Competing. Then getting ready to do it all again.

For Freydís, Unbroken became part of supporting that cycle day after day.

Train. Recover. Go again.

Ready legs. Ready for what’s next.
