Eighteen holes demand hours of concentration, consistency and endurance. For Icelandic Champion Bjarki Pétursson, Unbroken became part of staying consistent on the course and recovering afterwards. What started as curiosity about a product used by other elite athletes soon became part of his own golf routine.
Golf from the very beginning
Golf has been part of Bjarki’s life for as long as he can remember.
Growing up in Borgarnes, he was introduced to the game by his parents, both keen golfers. There is even a childhood photo of Bjarki at his grandmother’s house holding a golf club bigger than he was.
“I was practically born on the golf course in Borgarnes.”
He began playing seriously between the ages of eight and ten and progressed through Iceland’s junior system before earning a golf scholarship to Kent State University in Ohio.
Kent State had one of the strongest collegiate golf programs in the United States. During Bjarki’s third year, the team ranked ninth nationally, and several of the players he encountered during those years went on to compete on the PGA Tour.
For Bjarki, those years were an important part of developing both as a golfer and an athlete.
Becoming Icelandic Champion
One of the highlights of Bjarki’s career came at the Icelandic Championship.
Going into the final nine holes with a two-shot lead, Bjarki found himself in what he describes as a “zone.” Five consecutive birdies followed, and he eventually won the championship by eight shots.
It was also his first senior tournament victory in Iceland.
“I doubt many Icelandic golfers started with the biggest.”
It was a defining performance, but behind performances like these are hours of training, preparation and recovery.
Feeling the difference
Bjarki first became interested in Unbroken after hearing about the experiences of other elite athletes who were already using it.
As a golfer, he wanted to see how it could fit into the particular demands of his sport.
“What a difference.”
A competitive round can mean hours on the course. For Bjarki, one of the biggest challenges is maintaining the same level of consistency from the opening holes through to the final green.
He began taking Unbroken with him onto the course and incorporating it into his routine throughout the round.
What stood out to him was how consistent he felt.
Rather than the ups and downs he associated with the snacks and energy products he had previously used, Bjarki describes feeling more stable through the later holes.
Consistency through all 18 holes
In golf, small changes can have a big impact.
Fatigue can affect concentration, decision-making and the ability to repeatedly execute the same swing. Bjarki sees maintaining consistency as particularly important as a round progresses.
For him, this is where Unbroken found a natural place in his golf routine.
“I feel like I’m flat-lined, always as energized as ever.”
It is Bjarki’s way of describing the steady feeling he experiences when using Unbroken during a round.
And the benefit for him doesn't stop when he reaches the 18th green.
Recovery after the round
A full round of golf is a long day, particularly when training and competition continue the following day.
Recovery therefore became another important part of Bjarki’s experience with Unbroken.
“It’s really amazing how quickly you recover.”
Bjarki also noticed an unexpected difference after introducing Unbroken into his routine: he felt that he was sleeping better.
For a competitive athlete, he sees that recovery time between rounds and training sessions as an important part of being able to perform consistently.
“I was also pleasantly surprised by how much my sleep has improved since I started using this product.”
For Bjarki, Unbroken has become about more than one moment on the course. It fits into the full cycle of playing, recovering and getting ready to go again.
First tee to final green. Recover. Go again.
