Professional mountain guide Siggi Bjarni Sveinsson understands what happens when the body is pushed to the extreme. During his 2021 Mount Everest expedition, 40 days of trekking, extreme altitude, heavy packs and limited access to nutrition made endurance and recovery critical. Unbroken became part of what kept him going.
40 days at extreme altitude
For 40 days, Siggi and his team trekked more than 150 km, gaining over 10,000 meters in elevation, much of it above 4,000 meters. Carrying packs weighing around 20 kg, every day placed another demand on the body.
“Unbroken was a crucial part of my journey to climb Mount Everest in 2021.”
At altitude, appetite can fade just when the body is being asked to do more. For Siggi, having something light and easy to consume became particularly valuable. Unbroken was the only protein nutrition the team had access to during the climb.
“Energy and recovery are everything, especially when preparing to tackle Everest. Unbroken was the only protein we had access to during the climb, and it made a huge difference in real time recovery at such high altitudes.”
When every gram counts
On an expedition like Everest, everything you carry matters. Unbroken's compact tablet format meant Siggi could carry amino acid nutrition without adding significant weight or volume to his pack.

The experience wasn't limited to Siggi. Members of the Sherpa team tried Unbroken during the expedition too.
“Even our Sherpa team, who tried Unbroken, felt the impact and kept asking for more before big days.”

For Siggi, Unbroken became more than something he packed for the expedition. It became part of how he managed the extraordinary physical demands of 40 days at altitude.
“This supplement was more than just support. It was essential to our endurance and resilience on the mountain.”
